Gaurav kakkar was born in Jalandhar. After completing his studies till 12th standard, he moved to Mumbai to try his luck in the field of modelling while finishing his graduation in the field of commerce.

​His journey of ads started with a prominent ad for Clinic plus shampoo but he rose to fame with Motorola phone campaign and he became a house hold name in TV commercials. At one point he was almost in every second ad that he was called AD king in one of his interviews with Tribune Chandigarh as he went on to do almost 80 Tv commercials for leading brands with some of the biggest directors of Ad world and bollywood film directors. ​

Destiny had different plans for him and he got a chance to play a lead along side living legend Gurdas Mann in his debut film Chak Jawana which lead him to win Best Debut Male award at PTC film awards and then his punjabi film journey continued and he was nominated for best supporting actor for his another film called SADDA HAQ, which was A BLOCKBUSTER.

He won Cornetto Love Reels at MTV amongst 5000 participants and he did a film called THE SAVIOUR which was jointly produced by Kunal Kohli and MTV.​

Gaurav Kakkar is a very renowned poet and he has been featured on instagram with featuring pages more than a 100 times. He claims poetry is his way of leading a calm life. Thorough meditator, he practices pranic healing as one of meditations and he is a certified healer.
